I was nervous when ordering that this shirt, like most made for cis men, would fit my chest but not my AFAB hips. I was happily surprised to find that wasn't the case! I got a 2X optimizing for a proper chest fit and the shirt isn't snug on my 52.75" hips even though the size chart lists a much smaller hip measurement. Even if you have dysphoria around your hips, I think ordering 1 size up from what your chest measurement puts you in will work well. You might want to go up 2 sizes if you have a large waist/hip measurement (I'm 42.75" at my natural waist). I'm 5' 1.5" and the shirt did not feel too long the way many shirts for cis guys often do for me. Fabric is so buttery and wonderful to wear; feels like it'll last a long time.
Thank you so much for taking the time for this detailed review and for pointing out sizing recommendations for folks :)
I am 5’4” and purchased the Francis kit in L (black and beige)I have no complaints, because I truly believe it fits me quite well. I think it hugs the shoulders perfectly. The texture is soft and I can mix and match with jeans and shorts for a great look.
What a great look!
i love my shirt! the only “complaint” i have is that it’s a little short. I’m 5’7 if i was any taller the XL would have been too short so i’d size up if you’re worried about it not fitting. But the fabric is quality and it’s very flattering on me as someone who wears a binder whenever i can
I am OBSESSED with the fit of this collared shirt. Got instant gender euphoria seeing how it fell just at my waist instead of being all scrunched up like standard men's collared shirts. the fabric also feels super comfortable. i would loveeee to see more button ups in various styles, colors, and patterns.
only thing i wasn't big on were that the excess fabric on the shoulders are stiff and pointy. but it's not very noticeable, so I'm not trippin too much.
I'm so happy one of these "menswear for afab bodies" companies finally understands that us trans guys don't want a menswear shirt that just technically fits; we want it to fit like it fits cis guys. I have an hourglass shape and bad hip/shoulder dysphoria, so finding a short sleeve button down has been a struggle. I can't tell you how awesome it is to find one that I finally feel like myself in. Yes, sixty bucks may seem like a lot to some, but I've spent nearly double from other companies that claimed they'd work for me, only to be no better than any cheap button-down you'd find anywhere, and with worse fabric. So if you can afford it and have the same struggles I've had, try it out. This shirt is great and perfectly breathable for the summer with 100% cotton. Only complaint is that there's some draglines around the button placket (which you can see in some of the model photos) and that isn't ideal for the price, but not super noticeable. Excellent job, design team! I'll definitely be buying more products.
