You asked, we created. Welcome to Both&'s signature denim drop.
☑️ Designed to create a true straight fit on AFAB bodies with a shorter inseam and more room at the thighs, bum, and hips.
☑️ High-quality, 100% cotton denim.
☑️ Available in two colors, from size 29-42".
Sizing: we received some feedback that our sizing system on Marlo was confusing for folks, so we are trying out the simple/traditional waist x inseam sizing system here. The first number is the width at the top of the jean (whether you wear it at waist, high hip or low hip), and the second number is the length of the inseam.
Height: 5'8
Weight: 155 lbs
I spent a long time trying to figure out the sizing on these. I wear a size 28-30 in women's jeans, generally. I like a high waist (natural waist minimum; over the belly button preferred). I wish Both& would provide the rise measurement.
I measured the part of my waist where I wanted them to sit, and then added an inch as per the sizing instructions. My natural waist is ~35 inches, so I ordered sizes 34, size 35, and size 38, figuring one would fit. I was absolutely SWIMMING in the 34s. Ultimately, it turns out size 32 fits me at the natural waist the best, and this is the most important measurement for me. And when I measured the circumference of the 32s while wearing them... yup, they're about 36" around, on my body. So it does seem like there is a pretty standard amount of vanity sizing here. Fine, but it would have been great if you could have provided the inch measurements of each size lying flat so I could compare them to existing jeans I already own.
I wish the jean was 2-3 inches longer and fell straighter, with less taper. (I am glad it does not flare, however). I wish I had the option to roll them sometimes.
I'm happy with how thick the denim is (note that the black denim is noticeably thinner/softer than the blue denim, which is quite thick and sturdy).
I wanted to love these jeans! I've been following Both& for a long time and finally decided to fork out the money to try the jeans & the Khazeel Tee, but unfortunately neither of them really fit me right. I'm shorter, 5'2" 115 lbs, so maybe these styles were made for taller people, but they weren't really flattering on my body type. The Jo is wider in the hips, but still too big for me (i'm probably a 28/29 in waist and found them a bit big. But what I really didn't love was how the leg of the pant got skinnier towards the ankle. This cut, in my opinion, calls out your hips more (and for someone who struggles with this, I was a bit disappointed). If it was a bit wider at the bottom of the pant I think this would be more flattering. I also thought the crotch hung unnecessarily low. I only wear mens jeans and these seem to be extra low, in comparison. Besides that, I loved the color of the blue jeans and the weight of the jean felt like high quality, fit wise though, I didn't love it. Ended up returning the pants.
These jeans are so freaking dope. I've been looking for jeans that would be loose on my thighs and butt like this for a long time. I will say, I measured my hips, etc according to the sizing guide at first and what I got was WAY too big. Had to return twice until I got the right size. If this is helpful to anyone: I'm a size 30 in the Marlo and a 4 or 6 in women's jeans (if I want them to fit my waist) and the Jo size 29 is still super baggy in a great way.
I haven't bought any new jeans since I started transitioning and these fit perfectly. highly recommend following the size chart instructions. they give me dad jean vibes in the best way, probably because my dad still has a pair of light wash jeans that he still wears from the 90s. A+
Love these jeans, but I would definitely go up a size. I'm nonbinary - post top surgery, 5'6", 130lbs Normally in all "mens" jeans I’m a 32 waist/hips - so that’s what I ordered, unfortunately it appears they run on the tight side. I do love the pants and will be ordering more in the future, just one size up.
